Beautiful Bengal

Country boat of Bengal, Hooghly River, Kolkata

Second Hooghly Bridge, Kolkata, West Bengal
Kolkata is the capital city of West Bengal, the eastern state of India. The river Hooghly, popularly known as Ganga, is a distributary of the river Ganges. The Hooghly river flows between Kolkata and Howrah. This river is very important from the historical point of view. The English & French invaders entered the main land of India from Bay of Bengal through this river. The English set up The East India Company. The French occupied & set up their colony in Chandan Nagar, the opposite river bank. One can still see the architectures built by them in the bygone era.The river is the life line of Bengal. There are two beautiful bridges on it, one is the famous Howrah Bridge and the other is Vidyasagar Setu or second hooghly bridge. One can have a ride on country boat of Bengal ( Dingi Nouka), or simply enjoy the cool breeze.
