Kolkata is the capital city of West
Bengal, the eastern state of India.
The river Hooghly, popularly known as Ganga,
is a distributary of the river Ganges. The Hooghly
river flows between Kolkata and Howrah.
This river is very important from the historical point of view. The English
& French invaders entered the main land
of India from Bay of
Bengal through this river. The English set up The East India
Company. The French occupied & set up their colony in Chandan Nagar,
the opposite river bank. One can still see the architectures built by them
in the bygone era.The river is the life line of Bengal.
There are two beautiful bridges on it, one is the famous Howrah
Bridge and the
other is Vidyasagar Setu or second hooghly bridge. One can have a ride
on country boat of Bengal ( Dingi Nouka), or
simply enjoy the cool breeze.
In India, there are so many tourists places. Himachal Pradesh is one of the best place to visit. In himachal, Pragpur heritage village is one of them.
